This is dedicated to my nephew, best friend, and hunting partner; Tyler D. Potts...Rest In Peace, bud! This is a blog that touches upon all kinds of outdoor activities. The main focus of this blog is the pursuit and harvest of mature whitetail bucks with bow and arrow. I want it to be an informative and helpful tool to other hunters and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Hanging Stands
I heard some people talking about putting up stands for bowseason today...and it's only a week away! I realize that time constraints can make it tough to get stands up, but if you want to give yourself the best chance at harvesting a mature buck, you have to get those stands up early. Preferably a few months before season. If you must put them up right before or during season, remember to take every precaution with scent control. A whitetail's best defense is its sense of smell. If a mature buck (or doe) gets enough human scent in an area, they will avoid it. This is why a lot of people get bucks on trail cameras and then they never see them during season. They aren't careful about scent control. Just keep that in mind anytime you enter the woods...always use the total scent elimination system.
